Licensed Therapist

Avatar Behavioral Health (ABH) in New Jersey offers adult and adolescent outpatient services. The Clinician plays a pivotal role in our patient care activities, performing a wide variety of tasks as directed by the Clinical Director. This includes managing a patient caseload, providing group and individual therapy, and conducting psychosocial and bio-psychosocial assessments. The Clinician’s collaboration with the Treatment Team to formulate the Master Treatment Plan and assist in coordinating discharge planning is crucial. They also have primary responsibility for maintaining communication with the family, referral source, and other service providers as needed.

Full-Time Hours:

Monday-Friday Day and Evening shifts

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Determines the appropriate level of care according to DSM V TR Patient Placement Criteria. Facilitates therapeutic groups and education about mental health diagnoses.
  • Provides individual, group therapy and conducts assessments
  • Collaborates with clients to develop a treatment plan.
  • Engages clients, builds rapport, and increases readiness and commitment to change with evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Provides excellent individual therapy and group therapy to assigned clients following the program curriculum provided by the Clinical Director.
  • Provides active case consultation.
  • Continues special training in areas designated by the Supervisor.
  • Maintains full client caseload and documentation of accountability procedures that require verification of interventions.
  • Obtains previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode.
  • Participates in daily team huddles, and weekly treatment team meetings
  • Completes all required documentation, ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures, state regulations, and Joint Commission standards.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have current/ active licensure to apply*
  • Must have minimum of 1 year experience post-graduation*
  • Maintains positive relationships with all staff
  • Participate effectively in multidisciplinary treatment plan reviews
  • Maintains healthy boundaries with patients and staff
  • Provides a safe and therapeutic environment to all staff and patients
  • Communicate significant patient developments to the Supervisor
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and contributes to the organization’s success.
  • Pursues professional development through participation in education and training programs
  • Assist as needed when the Administrator is not available.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • Required NJ state license(s): LAC, LPC, LSW, LCSW.
  • Experience with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience working in an outpatient therapeutic setting is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working with co-occurring clients will be considered an asset
